Walkthrough: lasting effects

PlayerA (recording) activates Tamiyo, Seasoned Scholar's +2. On their turn, PlayerB dashes in Ragavan and attacks into it. Two effects outlive the abilities that created them, Tamiyo's shield and dash's "return it at end of turn", and the keyframes show both. The recording also starts late, partway through the game. The decisions behind this are decisions/0026-lasting-effects.md and decisions/0019-review-corrections.md.

The recorder joined during turn 6, so turns 1 to 5 are missing. incomplete says so. Before the turn 6 keyframe, new lines introduce every object directly where the keyframe shows it, and the keyframe gives the rest: life totals, library sizes, Tamiyo's face and loyalty. From turn 6 on, the record is complete.

• Adding loyalty is the ability's cost (by cost:#14).
• Resolving creates a delayed triggered ability lasting until PlayerA's next turn (CR 603.7a). It gets its own ID, #15, with Tamiyo as its source (CR 603.7e).
• The ability (#14) is gone, but the effect (#15) stays, and the next keyframe lists it:

• Declaring an attacker taps it (CR 508.1f), caused by the rule.
• Tamiyo's effect triggers. from #15 connects the trigger to the effect that created it.
• Ragavan entered as a 2/1. The trigger makes it a 1/1, recorded as a pt line caused by the trigger. The -1/-0 lasts only until end of turn, so it is not a lasting effect: the pt line is the whole record of it.
• Ragavan deals damage equal to its power (CR 510.1a): 1, matching the recorded power. The life change takes the damage's cause (CR 120.3a).
• Ragavan returns to hand before the cleanup step, so there is no line restoring it to 2/1: a creature that leaves the battlefield becomes a new object (CR 400.7).

Ragavan's trigger makes a Treasure and exiles PlayerA's top card. PlayerA learns its name as it leaves the library, so it is a new card, not a hidden one.

Dash's delayed trigger fires at the end step. It triggers only once (CR 603.7b), so its effect ceases as it triggers. Ragavan goes back to PlayerB's hand, still identified.

Tamiyo's effect lasts "until your next turn". It ends as that turn begins, so the turn 8 keyframe still lists it, and its cease is the first line of the untap step.
